Starbucks to Provide Additional Lower Calorie Options this January

On January 12, Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) will introduce new beverage and food options in participating U.S. stores as part of the company’s continued commitment to meeting the needs of its customers looking for options. Made with wholesome, high-quality ingredients that customers expect from Starbucks, the 90-calorie or less beverages and new hot Panini sandwiches are great choices for customers any time of day.

“Reducing the number of calories – even slightly – can have a great benefit over time,” said Katie Thomson, MS, RD, senior nutritionist, Starbucks Coffee Company. “Saving just 100 calories a day adds up to about 10 pounds of weight loss per year. And we know cutting calories should not mean depriving customers of great taste.”

“Our customers are looking for great tasting, wholesome options. The new Panini sandwiches are freshly made with high quality ingredients and are under 400 calories. We take great pride in delivering taste, nutrition and quality,” said Annie Young-Scrivner, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Starbucks Coffee Company.

Starbucks® Ice Cream Invites Facebook® Users to Treat Friends and Family
SEATTLE and ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. – July 6, 2009 – There’s no better ingredient for creating the perfect summer day than ice cream; research has actually proven ice cream is the food most likely to bring a smile to people’s faces.* In celebration of National Ice Cream Month, Facebook users have the chance to share 280,000 free pints of super-premium Starbucks® ice cream.

Over a two-week period, from July 6-19, 20,000 pints of Starbucks® ice cream will be available each day. Beginning at 12:00 a.m. EST on July 6, Facebook users can visit http://apps.facebook.com/starbucksicecream/, log in and follow easy instructions to share a coupon redeemable for a free pint of any Starbucks® ice cream flavor. Participants can treat others or – if the temptation is too great – indulge themselves by claiming one of just over 800 coupons available at the top of each hour.

Starbucks Real Foods Fact Sheet

Beginning June 30, 2009, Starbucks will unveil a new, delicious approach to food. We combed through hundreds of recipes and changed and improved them – simplifying recipes and using premium ingredients.  And, we’ve eliminated the unnecessary “stuff” - artificial flavors, artificial dyes, artificial trans fats and high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Made with real ingredients like organic blueberries, Michigan apples and Washington cherries, we’re holding our food to the same high-quality standards we hold our coffee.

Starbucks Coffee Company (NASDAQ: SBUX) and Unilever (NYSE: UN, UL) today unveiled a new super-premium ice cream line inspired by some of consumers’ favorite Starbucks® beverages. Created by culinary experts and food developers from both companies, Starbucks® ice cream is made with high-quality, all-natural ingredients, including milk and cream supplied by farmers who pledge not to treat their cows with rBGH.*
 
The line is now rolling into grocers across the U.S., and will be widely available by early spring.
