Starbucks Announces its Arrival to Costa Rica

Starbucks Opens 300th Store in Mexico
SEATTLE and MEXICO CITY; Dec. 2, 2010 – Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) together with joint-venture partner Alsea today celebrates the opening of its 300th store in Mexico, it’s largest market in Latin America. Howard Schultz, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Starbucks along with John Culver, president, Starbucks Coffee International, joins Starbucks partners in Mexico City for this milestone occasion.

Starbucks Celebrates First Store Opening in El Salvador
Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) together with joint-venture partner Corporación de Franquicias Americanas (CFA), will open the doors of the first Starbucks location in San Salvador, El Salvador tomorrow. The coffeehouse, located in Plaza Santa Elena, will proudly feature Starbucks® premium single-origin coffee, El Salvador Pacamara.

“We are excited to introduce our high-quality coffee and the unique Starbucks Experience to customers in San Salvador,” said Pablo Arizmendi-Kalb, vice president and general manager, Starbucks Latin America. “Starbucks has been buying coffee in El Salvador since 1971.  We are honored to expand our role in the rich coffee heritage that’s present here.”

In addition to coffee buying, Starbucks has teamed up with local exporters since 2004 to help support rural clinics and educational initiatives, which include providing school supplies and renovating school infrastructures.

Starbucks Announces Agreement to Open First Store in Central America
SEATTLE and SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR; Aug. 16, 2010 – Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) and Corporación de Franquicias Americanas (CFA), one of Central America’s largest multi-brand franchise operators, today announced a strategic area development agreement to open licensed Starbucks stores throughout Central America. The first store will open in San Salvador, El Salvador before the end of the year.

Information About the Impact of Swine Flu on Starbucks

As a global company operating in 50 countries, Starbucks has been closely monitoring Influenza A-H1N1, also known as Swine Flu. The health and safety of our over 175,000 partners (employees) and our customers is a top priority.
 
We have been proactively communicating with all of our partners globally to reiterate Starbucks health and safety procedures.  Dependent on government mandates and Starbucks internal review, our operations may be adjusted at any given time.   Any impacted partners will refrain from work and confer with their personal health care provider to address the illness.  Starbucks will work with the appropriate local authorities to assess any further risk to that store’s partners and operations.  We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes accordingly.
